I agree with sniffer, if a person was without a doubt guilty of killing lets say...a family chopping, slicing etc. Hell yeah i'd wanna kill him myself. We can try to be intellectuals all we want but when it's your little brother or sister who's raped then murdered....well I don't think our natural instinct to kill that person...with as much pain as they caused their victim should be down upon.
The only problem I see is that the courts dont work that way....and not everyone that kills gets killed like rant said in his long post and im sure past did too it's always the poor , usually black or chicanos who are killed. but sniffer i completely see your point.

Incidently, how many layers of society do you think exist?
Think about it and think of it in terms of attitude towards society and it's structure as well.

as i said before.... i think the death penalty should be applied. but ONLY in cases where the murderer admits, without showing remorse, that he is guilty. i do not agree with the way it is being applied today. race and social class should not enter into it. i do not believe it should be applied if ANY of the evidence was even slightly circumstantial. the only people i think deserve the death penalty are the animals that are so twisted inside that they are incapable of being rehabilitated. the ones that tell you they do it for enjoyment and will do it again. there may not be a lot of those out there but a few less would be even better.

you've seen my hands are steady
you've seen my face before
soon you can take your last look
and they'll close the door
i stand accused before you
i have no tears to cry
and you will never break me
until the day i die
a criminal mind is all i...
all i've ever known
they tried to reform me
but i'm made of cold stone
my criminal mind is all i...
all i've ever had
ask one who's known me if i'm really so bad
i am
i've spent my life behind these steel bars
i've paid my debt in time
but being brought to justice
that was my only crime
i don't regret a single action
i'd do the same again
these prison walls secure me
and i'm numb to pain
a criminal mind is all i...
all i've ever known
they tried to reform me
but i'm made of cold stone
my criminal mind is all i...
all i've ever had
ask one who's known me if i'm really so bad
i am
before you hand me over
before you read my sentence
i'd like to say a few words
here in my own defence
some people struggle daily
they struggle with their conscience till the end
i have no guilt to haunt me
i feel no wrong intent
a criminal mind is all i...
all i've ever known
don't try to reform me
because i'm made of cold stone
my criminal mind is all i...
all i've ever had
ask one who's known me if i'm really so bad
i am.....
oh oooh i am...
i'm made of cold stone...
made of cold stone...
i'm just like these prison walls...
a criminal mind

I think that if you can prove without a reasonable doubt that the person is a murderer....like Paul Bernardo..who videoed the murder....or one of them anyway....then...they deserve to die....

is from texas...nuff said
also, there have been cases of upper middle class white males being executed....#25, state of texas, 1997....
we also execute white females...
hell, we execute death row inmates....
my feelings are, if they did it, and they deserve it, then why should taxpayers pay for them to sit in jail for the next 50 years.
BTW, death row in texas, is no country club...there is no touching....anyone....ever, there is no air conditioning or heat....have you BEEN to texas?? it is a miserable existance from what i hear....
also, in texas, there has been legistlation passed for DNA testing where applicable....which means, if you are innocent, it will come up in the DNA (which happened last week in the case of Ashley Estelle's convicted alleged murderer).
i guess that since i come from a state that actually puts it's convicted serial killer, muderer, child muderer/rapists to death, maybe i am a little more immune to the controversy. i have never heard of anyone being put to death in texas for robbing the local 7-11 of $25. and many of the ones who are put to death, confess, and apologize to the victim's families before it happens. i guess they want to clear their conscience before they meet their maker. i dunno, im not in their shoes.

Texas is actually a good example of why the death penalty should be illegal. I could give a few examples but too lazy to go looking...but i will if you really want me to. *G

Damn! as i read this thread i remember the abortion thread. wonders? you can kill babies but you can't kill a killers? just doesn't make to much sence to me. bet those babies are really evil to be killed...huh.
I would like all that oppose the death sentance and a person being put to death for crimes committed. For those to look into the eyes of the family and friends of the victim that was killed. Look into their eyes and say please oh please spare this poor poor mans life for ruthlessly, brutally, and heinously killing your loved one (and or others)of which his life is far more important than that of your loved one. so his rights or life are more important that that of any others he took.
four days ago a 17 year old boy under false pretence entered an elder womans house of whom was 77 years old. this boy raped and killed her, vicously and brutely (body almost unidientifiable. come to find out he is under investigation in two other states for crimes committed on elderly people, raps and deaths. should this fine young lad be spared his life so he can have a life that is more important than the one he took. One that will never be able to share her love, kindness, and friendship again. In all that is good and glorious in this world i hope that his peers sentence him to death. Or is this the kind of person we want populating our societies?
Teach HELL, showing that a person exicuted because of his actions towards society is in no way teaching, it is to end what a person did that can not be replaced, Life cannot be replaced, taking that evil from the earth only saves others pain and suffering.
